Based in the Hague, The Netherlands, BINBAG PRODUCTIONS focuses on the absurd and surreal, asking people to question their place in the world, striving to push the boundaries of the traditional and everyday within our music.

We take inspiration from multiple styles and genres in order to create our own musical collages. By combining unexpected sounds and juxtaposing styles we aim to give new contexts to familiar musical contentions resulting in the hilariously macabre.

Binbag’s next production will be our first operetta ‘Ubu Roi’. This reimagining of scenes from the Alfred Jarry play of the same name brings you the story of three troublesome characters mercilessly fighting for power.

Through the first three scenes of the play we watch the humorous and ridiculous exploits of these vile characters as they plot and scheme and try and fail to gain power for themselves.

Taking inspiration from silent movies, pantomime and grotesquely flamboyant baroque operas Binbag productions turns classical conventions on their head to playfully poke fun at the absurdity of existence in these often troubling times.

Now more then ever this story of greed and power, highlighting the lack of regard shown by those in charge for the people they are supposed to be protecting, is relevant today as politicians all around us choose to serve the few rather then the many.
